SS Prince George heavily aground on Genn Island, March 23, 1917. 002 Grand Trunk Pacific (GTP) Prince George hard aground on Genn Island, March 23, 1917.  Jack was an operator on Digby Island at this time and no doubt took his boat around for a look.  Genn Island is about 12 miles to the south of Digby Island.

SS Prince George was built in Newcastle-on-Tyne and arrived in Victoria on July 12, 1910.  About that time the funnels went from red, white and black to all black.

Card with a view of three Pachena Point DF buildings.  009  More Pachena Point clearing.  The station was latterly a radio direction finder station, providing bearings for vessels at sea.  The location of the two loops have been drawn in by the photographer to make them more obvious.  Maximum signal would be received if the vessel was in direct line with one of the loops, and minimum if the vessel was broad side.  By summing the signals from both loops, a direction could be accurately determined.
