Jack at what appears to be a logging railroad station. I say
"appears" because of the general appearance and the dress of the
lads in the distance. Jack makes mention of the Franklin River Camp
in the notes (flimsy) he had stuck in this album. Franklin River is
on the south side of the Alberni Canal in British Columbia. The
canal (really an inlet, not man made) runs inland from Vancouver
Island's west coast and terminates in Port Alberni, BC almost
bisecting the island. |

"The Pachena O.I.C., Colin Kennedy, had many fine qualities.
He was also a good machinist and had brought his small lathe to the
station." From Jack Bowerman's narrative.
This photo may well be that lathe at Pachena Point. Note the
foot treadle used to spin the chuck. |
